Linux Mint 21.3 “Virginia” Beta released with Cinnamon 6.0 and several enhancements

The Beta version of Linux Mint 21.3 “Virginia” has been released. As a long term support release, it will receive support until 2027. This updated software brings numerous refinements and features to enhance the desktop user experience.

Linux Mint 21.3 introduces Cinnamon 6.0, which expands its support for add-ons, known as “spices”. In addition to the existing Applets, Desklets, Extensions, and Themes, a new add-on type, Action, is now supported.

The software also features preliminary work on Wayland support, 75% scaling support, and enhancements to gestures. Other desktop refinements are also included in the update.

The TV viewer application, Hypnotix, has been updated with new features in Linux Mint 21.3. Users can now set their favorite channels and create custom channels.

Warpinator, the file transfer tool, has been updated to allow manual connection to another device by inputting the device's IP address or scanning a QR code on mobile devices.

Sticky, the note-taking application, now supports DBUS commands, enabling users to manage notes via scripts or keybindings. Other applications have also been updated and improved in this release of Linux Mint 21.3.
