Linktree acquires competitor Koji, which will shut down its platform on January 31
In December 2023 the widely used link-in-bio platform Linktree, acquired one of its direct competitors, Koji, whose product is scheduled to shut down by January 31, 2024. As part of the transition, the company aims to integrate Koji creators into their platform and has provided a specific link for Koji users, offering a three-month trial of Linktree's Pro plan, but it remains unclear whether tools will be provided to aid creators in migrating their data from Koji to Linktree.
This marks Linktree's second acquisition in the sector, following the purchase of Bento.me in 2023, which is currently in maintenance mode, with no new features being worked on, and primarily focused on customer support. Over the past year, Linktree has also expanded its services by integrating with Threads and Snapchat, introducing monetization options for donations, and has partnered with SendOwl to allow creators to sell a variety of digital products, ranging from audiobooks and videos to software and exclusive events.
The acquisition of Koji is expected to further strengthen Linktree's product monetization and e-commerce capabilities (one of the most notable features of Koji). Just keep in mind that if you were a Koji user, the service will cease to be available at the end of this month, so we recommend you taking a look at the list of available alternatives in case you don't want to migrate to Linktree (you can check Beacons if you're looking a more robust option with some website builder features, or LinkStack for an easy to use open-source free alternative).
