WhatsApp enhances Status feature with status likes and private mentions

WhatsApp has introduced enhancements to its Status feature, including 'status likes', enabling users to likes friend's status with a simple tap. These likes are private, visible only to the status creator, without a public like counter.

Additionally, users can now employ private mentions to directly notify friends and family about their statuses. These mentions trigger notifications for the mentioned individuals, ensuring they see the content, while maintaining discretion as they do not appear on the status itself. The update also allows users to reshare statuses in which they are mentioned.

These new features are being rolled out globally, with full access expected soon. WhatsApp is also planning further enhancements to the Status and Updates tab pretty soon.
