Lutris game manager 0.5.18 brings default dark mode and improved GOG & Itch.io integration

Lutris, the open-source gaming platform, has released version 0.5.18, introducing a host of new features and improvements. This update includes automatic downloading of the latest GE-Proton build for Wine users, a default dark theme, and a new 'Uncategorized' view in the sidebar. The application also hides preference options incompatible with Wayland when running on Wayland.

Search functionality has been enhanced with the ability to use tags like installed:yes or source:gog, complete with explanatory tool-tips and a new filter button to assist in tag creation. Lutris has updated its Flathub and Amazon integrations to align with new APIs, restoring these features. A notable change in Itch.io integration is the automatic loading of collections named Lutris.

GOG and Itch.io sources now support both Linux and Windows installers for the same game. Additional updates include support for the foot terminal, DirectX 8 in DXVK v2.4, Ayatana Application Indicators, and expanded options for the Ruffle runner. There are also updated download links for Atari800 and MicroM8 runners.

The update addresses installation file management by preventing unnecessary re-downloads of cached files and improves error reporting. The system tab in preferences now includes logs for better debugging. Platform-specific enhancements include an AppArmor profile for Ubuntu 23.10 and later, and the addition of a runner for Duckstation, enhancing support for PlayStation 1 emulation.
