Proton unveils Pass Monitor: An advanced security suite for Proton Pass password manager

Proton has unveiled Pass Monitor, a new suite of security features for its password manager, Proton Pass. The aim of Pass Monitor is to enhance users' data security by alerting them to account weaknesses and data breaches, thereby enabling them to bolster their online account defenses.

Pass Monitor incorporates four layers of security. Firstly, Dark Web Monitoring scans illicit data marketplaces for any leaked Proton addresses and aliases. Secondly, Password Health evaluates the security of users' accounts. Thirdly, Inactive two-factor authentication (2FA) identifies accounts where 2FA can be enabled. Lastly, Proton Sentinel, which was launched last year, employs AI and human analysts to detect and block account takeover attacks.

Proton Pass free plans include Password Health and 2FA checks. Meanwhile, Dark Web Monitoring, Proton Sentinel, and other advanced security features are available with the Pass Plus plan. Over the next few days, Pass Monitor will be rolled out to everyone on all devices.
