Amazon now lets Fire TV users jump to specific movie scenes by describing them to Alexa+
Amazon has introduced a new feature for Fire TV users that allows them to skip directly to specific moments in movies on Prime Video simply by describing the scene to Alexa+. Instead of searching or fast-forwarding, viewers can use natural language, similar to how they would explain a scene to a friend. This makes it easier to find memorable film moments by mentioning details such as character names, actors, or iconic quotes, even without remembering the movie title.
Building on Fire TV's AI capabilities, this tool harnesses Amazon Bedrock and a combination of large language models, including Amazon Nova and Anthropic Claude. With support from Prime Video’s X-Ray technology, Alexa+ interprets visual data and movie captions to understand context, characters, and plot, helping it pinpoint the desired scene in seconds.
While the feature currently covers thousands of movies and tens of thousands of individual scenes, Amazon plans to increase coverage by adding more titles and expanding functionality to include TV shows in the near future. To use this tool, users need a Prime membership or must own or rent the movie on Prime Video. This scene-based searching also integrates with personalized recommendations, making content discovery more streamlined for viewers.
