Firefox launches a new AI-powered 'shake to summarize' feature for iOS devices

Mozilla Firefox is rolling out a new “shake to summarize” feature in Firefox for iPhones, letting users generate an AI-powered summary of a webpage by shaking their device. Summaries can also be accessed through the thunderbolt icon in the address bar or the “Summarize page” option in the three-dot menu, appearing at the top of the page once processed.

On iPhone 15 Pro or newer running iOS 26, the feature will use Apple Intelligence for on-device summarization. Older iPhones or iOS versions rely on Mozilla’s cloud-based AI system to produce the summaries.

The feature is launching this week in the US with English support only, with plans to expand to more regions and Android in the future. It works on webpages under 5,000 words, and users can disable the shake gesture in settings to prevent accidental activations.
