What is Maptoposter Online?

MapPoster Online turns any city in the world into a print-ready art poster — entirely in your browser, with no installation, no account, and no cost. What makes it different: Most map poster tools are either closed-source SaaS products that lock you into subscriptions, or Python CLI scripts that require a local dev environment to run. MapPoster Online bridges both worlds: it's fully open-source and runs instantly in any browser, powered by a Rust/WebAssembly rendering engine (built on tiny-skia) that delivers native-level performance without leaving the client. Standout features:

  • Zero-install, browser-native — No backend. No account. Data fetching, rendering, and export all happen locally via Web Workers and WASM.

  • High-fidelity rendering — The Rust/WASM engine applies 2× supersampling + Box Filter downsampling, gamma-correct blending, and two-pass road casing for crisp, print-quality output at 300 DPI.

  • 20 built-in themes — From Nordic minimalism and cyberpunk neon to vintage nautical — plus per-layer color controls for roads, water, greenery, POIs, and text.

  • Smart data pipeline — Powered by OpenStreetMap + Overpass API, with auto-chunking for large cities, concurrent mirror failover, and IndexedDB gzip caching (~100KB per city).

  • 7 languages, custom fonts — Full i18n with dynamic font loading; bring your own TTF/OTF or use the built-in serif library.

  • Print-ready exports — A4, square, 16:9 desktop, phone wallpaper — all at 300 DPI with correct pHYs metadata for professional printing.

If you've ever wanted a beautiful, frameable city map poster without paying $30 for a Shopify template site, this is it.
