Criteria:
- Requires minimal or no device permissions to work (ex: no internet permissions requested, for an offline only app).
- Open Source or Source First or 3rd party audited.
- Free or paid.
- Contains all or most of the essential features of the stock app being replaced.
- App UX / UI is good and current, if not award-winning, i.e. not where the approach justifies creating a 90s design as a compromise for wanting privacy.
- Updated at least once since Dec-2023.

Still in alpha. + Includes swipe function unlike few other well-known alternatives (Heliboard / Fossify Keyboard). + Voice input included. + Support many languages. - Swipe accuracy needs a lot of improvement (when compared to GBoard). - No transliteration function for Indic languages. - Huge app size, due to the need for locally downloading the models. Still a huge gap from being an easy alternative to GBoard.

- UX is close to Google Messages. - 'Mark as Read' needs individual messages to be selected, and takes a while to reflect.
