This is probably a great app if you only text one person at a time, but it's horrible for group message threads. It only shows icons and does not display individual names in text, making it very difficult to follow a conversation.
A decent minimalist SMS/MMS app with custom alerts, archives and actions on the pull-down notifications. No RCS support or swipe actions, but does the job without sending a copy of all your messages to Google.
Fossify runs on Android –– unfortunately, it is not compatible with macOS.
About: Perfect, FOSS & Privacy-Focused messaging app for Android. Lightweight, and the ability to lock the app with biometrics is amazing.
Issues: Only issue had was with sending images. Fixed by going into: Settings - Resize MMS images - 600KB
I wish I had the experience the majority seem to have. For me, it never notified me if I got a text message, I would go to my inbox and I had 4 different people trying to reach out to me and I had no idea. Then when I did use it to send a message or if I received one whe the app was open, I would get this "java_script error" that lived across the bottom of my screen for the next 15-20 minutes. I sent a detailed email to the contact provided to inform them of what I was dealing with and I have yet to receive any response and that was around 2-3 days ago. I'd recommend and app with ads before I lead someone into that experience, it was awful for me. Un-installed and moving on.
I gave it 2 stars since it let me change the color of my icons. I always enjoy that, and no "java_script error" when I did it, so that was nice.
