
The Game Awards 2022 announcements and winners | My Signoff from AlternativeTo
The 9th annual showing of The Game Awards aired yesterday, and alongside giving awards to some of the best in interactive entertainment software, continued its tradition of announcing new video games for people to buy and play in the near future.
The Game Awards presents awards to video games available for all currently distributed platforms, including consoles, mobile phones, and desktop and laptop computers. Some of the winners for this year include:
Elden Ring - Game of the Year, Best Game Direction, Best Art Direction, Best RPG God of War Ragnarok - Best Narrative, Best Score/Music, Best Audio Design, Innovation in Accessibility, Best Action/Adventure Game Bayonetta 3 - Best Action Game FINAL FANTASY XIV - Best Community Support, Best Ongoing Game Stray - Best Indie Game, Best Debut Indie Game
Aside from the awards, the annual event is known for its announcements across every platform as well. Some of the biggest announcements from this year include:
Final Fantasy XVI is releasing for the PlayStation 5 as a timed exclusive on June 22nd, 2023. It won't come to other platforms, including PC, until 2024 at the earliest. FromSoftware announced the first new entry in its Armored Core series in 10 years, Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon, for release on Steam, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series X | S. Hades II was announced for release via Steam in 2023. Death Stranding 2 was announced by Hideo Kojima for PlayStation 5.
The awards will show up again in 2023 as announced at the end of the broadcast.
