Next.js 13.5 released with enhanced local development performance and bug fixes
Next.js, a widely-used React framework for the web, has recently rolled out version 13.5, which promises to enhance local development performance and reliability.
The new update brings a host of improvements, including a 22% faster local server startup and a 29% faster Hot Module Replacement (HMR), enabling quicker iterations when saving changes. In addition to these, version 13.5 also reduces memory usage by 40%.
The update has also optimized package imports, offering faster updates when utilizing popular icon and component libraries. The next/image component has also seen improvements with the introduction of the picture element, art direction, and dark mode support.
Furthermore, the update has addressed over 438 bugs, further enhancing the stability and performance of the framework. Users can upgrade to version 13.5 starting today. In addition, Next.js Conf is scheduled for October 26, where users can register to learn more about the latest developments and features.
