YouTube Music is bringing comments for song and podcast support, powered by YouTube's comment system

Just a few days after the introduction of real-time lyrics, YouTube Music has updated its "Now Playing" interface adding a comments section, accessible via a dedicated button under the cover art, which allows users to read and write comments while listening to music or podcasts.

The comments section not only shows comments from the official music video on YouTube but also enables users to add their own, encouraging social interaction within the app. The icons for liking, disliking, add to playlist, sharing and download that were previously accessed by tapping on the album cover but are now located under the song title.

There were also minor design changes that you will probably notice once this feature is gradually made available to users on iOS and Android devices.

Our take: Kinda interesting (controversial?) to see YouTube Music taking a different approach to services like Apple Music or Spotify, and getting closer to what we've seen on SoundCloud or Genius. I guess in YouTube's case it's a bit easier since they already have an interactive social network with millions, although time will tell if it's a good idea to bring YouTube's 'friendly' comments elsewhere...
