Google Photos is rolling out the 'Photo Stacks' auto-grouping feature for Android users

Launched for iOS devices in November 2023, Google Photos is finally introducing the Photo Stacks feature to all Android users. This feature organizes visually similar photos in the grid view, reducing clutter in the device gallery.

To use Photo Stacks, users must go to Google Photos settings, select Preferences, and switch on the "Stack similar photos" option. Once activated, the new group will be represented by a single thumbnail in the grid view, with an icon indicating it's a photo stack. Opening a stack reveals all images in a filmstrip format, where users can view, select, delete, customize, or share all images within a stack by long-pressing, and choosing "Includes Photo stacks." or just top pick from the stack by selecting "Selected items only." The feature can be disable in settings if you don't really want to use it.

The rollout of Photo Stacks may take a few days, but users can manually check for the feature in their Google Photos settings.
