n8n adds autosave, versioned publishing & concurrency protection for workflow automation
n8n’s latest platform update brings a suite of new features designed to make workflow management safer and more reliable. The core enhancements include autosave, versioned publishing, and concurrency protection for collaborative editing sessions. Autosave checks for changes every two seconds and saves progress automatically, addressing common risks such as browser crashes or forgotten saves. This feature also adapts to collaborative scenarios, reducing the chance of losing recent work.
Alongside autosave, versioned publishing gives users direct control over which workflow version goes live. Teams can experiment with new ideas or iterate on existing workflows without affecting production logic, as only published versions remain active until a new release.
While these changes strengthen usability, n8n now offers concurrency protection by detecting when someone is editing a workflow and switching the canvas to read-only for others. This approach stops team members from accidentally overwriting each other’s work.
Following these updates, the workflow history panel now allows users to track changes, perform instant rollbacks, and publish any previous version. In the coming weeks, n8n plans to introduce custom version names, visual history improvements, and easier renaming of past workflow versions, further improving this popular automation platform.
