Apple finally announces its foldable iPhone with dual displays, starting at $2,000
After months of rumors, Apple’s first foldable iPhone is finally official, and yep, it starts at $1,999. The new iPhone Duo features a 7.6-inch Super Retina XDR inner display, around 50% larger than the also new iPhone 18 Pro Max, alongside a 5.4-inch outer display for one-handed use.
iOS has been adapted for the foldable layout, moving controls closer to the edges, using a vertical Home Screen dock, and redesigning the status bar for the screen corners. Apps keep controls in similar positions when switching between displays, while partially folded modes move touch targets away from the crease. Users can also run two apps at once, open two instances of the same app, and save app pairs, pretty similar to how iPadOS works. Apple has also replaced Face ID with side-mounted Touch ID, and a 48MP camera with 4K Dolby Vision recording at 120 fps. Battery life is rated at up to 24 hours of mixed use.
Alongside the new devices, Apple announced that iOS 27 will be released on Monday, September 14, alongside iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27, tvOS 27, and visionOS 27, following developer beta testing since June and public beta testing since July.

Okay. Apple made a foldable device. Big whoop. I've come across a couple of reviews that contain excitement purely because it's an Apple device. Need to see this put through it's paces to truly see how it performs against the competition and whether the software experience is good for productivity or the usual media consumption.
The 2TB version is $3200. And given the memory shortage, the inflation and the greed of the company, it starts to become the new normal.
The invisible camera under the main screen is surprising even if the quality does look bad. The Touch ID is a joke but Apple will fix it for the iPhone Duo 2 Pro Max.
Still don't get the usefulness of theses foldable gadgets, especially when Samsung that got half of the market of theses is complaining it only represents about 2% of the phones it's selling.
Agree, with you on greed side of apple. But foldables are useful, as a user i can tell it. I dont take my laptop everywhere and when i suddenly need big screen to connect to my laptop remotely, big screen helps a lot for navigation after remote connections, it feels like u r using pc, when it is small phone screen navigation is hard, so again, it is productivity thing, if you dont need those productivity stuff, then yes it is irrelevant to have foldable.
