It's a virtual tabletop, and it's multiplayer online. It does dice rolls. It supports displaying the vision of the characters, showing which parts of the map are visible, and which are hidden.

Although it's not the most intuitive VTT it there, MapTools is a mature and stable choice. It's free (and Open Source), has loads of features, an active development team, and a lot of community content as well. There's no voice/video chat, but that's what Discord is for.

It's incredibly easy to jump in and start a game with friends. You build character sheets level by level. It's got easy to use dynamic lighting.

The turn based combat system and tracking features for 5e characters in this platform are far better than others I've used.

As someone relatively new to VTTs I found the character building (and character sheet maintenance) much cleaner and more intuitive in DiceRight over other platforms.

It's just some minor assets, no connectivity or maps. No better than forum RP.

I love Fight Club 5e, but it's not comparable to Roll20. Fight CLub 5e is a great tool for playing D&D 5e in person, while Roll20 is for online TTRPG play.
