I kept hearing Scaler was the deepest chord tool available, and it is, but it's a plugin built for producers who already live in a DAW. I wanted one place to capture chords, melody, and lyrics together before I ever got to the production stage. Scaler has no lyric workspace, no voice recording, no dedicated modulation panel, and the interface is dense and production-oriented. Song Cage is actually built around songwriting. A DAW-style timeline to get the idea down fast, and I can start from anywhere, chords, melody, or lyrics, whatever hits first. The chord palette is context-aware, it reads what's around the cursor and suggests chords that actually fit, and it teaches you why each one works (which melody notes are chord tones, how it voice-leads, what role it plays in the key). The lyric workspace has a rhyme finder, slant rhymes, and synonyms, plus an Explore tab that surfaces unexpected word pairings when I'm stuck on a line. I can record audio straight into the section I'm on so a hummed melody doesn't vanish. And there's a modulation panel with pivot chord routes between keys that Scaler has no equivalent for.
