Obsidian does technically provide some similar features to Typora, namely a live-preview markdown editor. However it's not really a text editor like Typora, more a managed note-taking system. You could not really say "I have this markdown file, I'll edit it with Obsidian".

Obsidian is organizing software. Markdown editing is just a feature. It's not fair enough to say that it's an alternative.

Obsidian is a comprehensive note-taking app that has support for markdown. Typora is just a markdown editor.

Very similar to Typora, but open source. Moreover it seems that Typora will not be free when the beta ends, while Mark Text will be free forever.

Very very similar, but the UX is a tiny bit worse (especially if like me you save often or undo/redo often)

Zettlr has almost every feature of Typora, but it can do even more. An example is the support to hyperlink to other notes in the same directory (so that it is possible to implement Zettelkasten).

Zettlr is similar to Typora in interface and function, but has better features and is open source.

more feature rich, in active development, one can link files (to reference things) and open-source (Typora is not)

pandoc support, qt-based (with c++ at back), under the auspices of kde, but does not depend on their libraries (there are Qt libraries in the archive, but you will have to put up with this)

Design is greate and OpenSource is still a big advantage about Typora.

HOWEVER, Typora is file-based, whereas Beaver Notes isn't! That is a BIG difference between booth programs! I whould say the concepts of how the informations are saved is so diffenrent that this booth programms are NOT COMPARABLE.

The key to good writing is not that magical glass of Bordeaux, the right kind of tobacco or that groovy background music. The key is focus. What you need to write well is a spartan setting that allows you to fully concentrate on your text and nothing but your text.
