Cursor launches iOS public beta with always-on agents, live activities and repo management
Cursor, which was recently acquired by SpaceX for $60 billion, is now available on iOS in public beta. This release allows users to launch and manage always-on AI-powered coding agents directly from their mobile devices, extending workflow flexibility for developers.
Building on the desktop experience, users can select repositories, launch agents, and describe tasks using voice input or slash commands on their phones. Any frontier model can be chosen, and tasks can be initiated with familiar steps from the desktop app.
Cloud agents now run in isolated virtual machines with complete development environments. This supports testing, verification, and demos, and lets users move sessions from local machines to the cloud to keep agents operational with their laptops closed. For enhanced flexibility, the Remote Control feature allows agents running on a desktop to be managed from a phone. Additionally, a setting can keep the user’s computer awake, ensuring agents remain reachable while away from the desk.
To streamline agent monitoring, Live Activities display agent status directly on the lock screen, while push notifications provide updates when an agent finishes, requests input, or becomes ready for review. Following these changes, users can also review demos, logs, screenshots, and code diffs from their phone, leave further instructions, or merge pull requests without leaving the app.
