OpenAI says it will cut off Cursor's access to its AI models starting November 12, 2026
OpenAI says it will wind down its contract to provide AI models to Cursor following Cursor's acquisition by SpaceX, and the breach of the contract's terms. The company proposed November 12, 2026, as the shutoff date for the access to all current and future OpenAI models.
Explaining the decision, OpenAI said it cannot be confident that SpaceX will use its technology within its terms of service. It cited its experience with Elon Musk's companies already violating contracts in the past.
In describing its partner process, OpenAI said it typically uses custom contracts with large partners. Those agreements are intended to ensure compliance with its terms and safety at scale. OpenAI said that X (Twitter), now part of SpaceX, broke the terms of its contract after Musk acquired the company.
Adding to that account, OpenAI said Musk admitted under oath earlier this year that xAI violated OpenAI's terms of service. OpenAI said xAI is now also part of SpaceX, and that its terms are similar to xAI's own.
Under the Cursor agreement, OpenAI says it has a limited window to cancel after a change of control. It says it will cancel at the latest date allowed under that provision, which is November 12, 2026.

When Altman is saying you're dishonest, you can be sure you've already have your parking lot in Hell, next to his one.
OpenAI have astounding data center commitments, and Grok sucks at coding (and many other tasks) and is much too expensive. Both companies are bleeding money (and have massive debts), only get their cash from other AI companies, and have no real plan except hyping a new model every four months.
Also, Musk has been too stupid (again) to sue OpenAI, forcing him to reveal how bad his AI business is, as it would happen to Altman if he fills a SEC-1. Odds are that in less than four years, both will go out of business.
Thats a good thing, because Altman serves his own agendas andis out for himself. Elon on the other hand doeswhat he wants regardless . Both mentalitys are bad for business in general. The world was a much better place before2020 IMO
