What is A/SIDE?

A/SIDE is a social app for sharing everyday updates with friends and family. Photos, videos and text posts appear newest first, from approved connections, with comments and emoji reactions. There are no public profiles, public user directory, suggested-post feed or ads.

Lists let you choose the audience for a post and filter the feed. You can create an account without an invitation, then exchange invite links or use optional contact matching to request connections.

New direct and group conversations are end-to-end encrypted, including photos sent in them. Feed posts are stored by A/SIDE and are not end-to-end encrypted. Older legacy conversations can contain unencrypted messages.

The server and mobile client are open source under AGPL-3.0. Core servers, the database and media storage run on an independent hosting provider, outside AWS, Google Cloud and Azure. Supporting services use other providers. User content is not used or licensed for AI training.

Free accounts can access the most recent 30 days of feed and message history; older content is not automatically deleted. Pro Individual provides longer history for US$20/year. Pro Family is US$60/year for up to six accounts. Local store prices and availability may vary.
