Altretta is an AI-powered notes application that prioritizes privacy and user control. Your notes, stored as Markdown files in your chosen folder, are not confined to a proprietary system and can be opened in any editor. Altretta's AI function provides citations for its claims and informs you if evidence is insufficient.
The application can also index code repositories, supporting sixteen languages. It creates a graph of code symbols, calls, and explanatory notes. By clicking a symbol, you can see its impact radius. Altretta also indexes your git history, reflecting the corresponding commit in the graph.
Every edit is signed by Altretta for traceability and accountability. For teams, it offers a shared vault with end-to-end encryption. Additional features include backlinks, local graph, 3D view, note templates, kanban, spaced repetition, LaTeX, tag renaming, split panes, pop-out windows, themes, accent colors, custom CSS, a web clipper, and sandboxed plugins.
Altretta is available for macOS, Windows, and Linux. It is free, with optional paid features like publishing, full history, unlimited synced folders, and team vault. The plugin SDK and the AI skill are licensed under MIT, and the engine is publicly available.
