It's free and open-source and has no reliance on central servers. Also it protects every Concord community and NIP-17 direct message with end to end encryption.

What is Armada?

Armada is an open-source chat application providing end-to-end encryption. It uses the Nostr protocol and includes servers, channels, threads, and voice rooms. The app enables serverless operations, with user keys serving as identities. It features Concord, a serverless, fully encrypted protocol for hosting communities. It includes text channels, live voice rooms, and invites. Users can self-host a Nostr relay for more control over their data.

Armada offers encrypted communities, voice rooms with encrypted group and direct calls, self-hostable servers and channels, and portable identity. It supports calling (with voice, video, and screenshare), custom emojis, GIFs, customizable app themes (compatible with Soapbox's other app Ditto), and more.

Users can self-host the web app, a NIP-29 community relay, and LiveKit servers for real-time voice in Concord and NIP-29 communities. Armada is compatible with other Nostr apps, supporting NIP-29 (the protocol Buzz uses) and Concord for communities in addition to NIP-17 for direct messages. A single key allows users to log in across the ecosystem, and shared protocols enable access to communities and direct messages across different platforms.
