This service works really well. Badgen does not offer as much functionallity as shields.io, but the essential things are there. I also think that it is more robust than shields.io. The only problem with badgen is the default cache. When I use shields.io for rust crate versions, the badges update instantly, while badgen, takes a long time. The minimum you can set cache to is 5min and I bet it will not even try to update earlier.
