Baiki Guide

Baiki turns a sentence into a walking tour. Tell it where you are and what you are curious about — "jazz history in Soho", "from Islington to Sloane Square" — and it plans a route through real places, checked against Google Maps, then narrates every stop in your ear.

Each stop is a story about something you are standing in front of: a blue plaque, a bricked-up doorway, the building that used to be there. Routes are ordered on real walking distance rather than straight lines, so the walk you are given is one you can actually do.

The first story of any walk is free and needs no card, so you hear what you are buying before you buy it. When someone unlocks a walk, its stories become free for everyone who comes after them.

Stories can be generated and narrated in 14 languages: English, Russian, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Ukrainian, Arabic and Turkish. The existing catalogue is 131 walks across 27 cities, deepest in London, and mostly English and Russian so far. Runs in the browser; there is no app to install.
