What is BIOSZEN?

BIOSZEN is a free and open-source R package and Shiny application designed to support reproducible analysis and visualization of experimental biological data.

For microbiology applications, BIOSZEN provides automated analysis of microbial growth curves from plate-reader data, including the extraction of growth parameters such as µMax, AUC, ODmax, lag time, maximum growth time, and other growth-related metrics. These parameters can be used to compare microbial strains, treatments, and experimental conditions.

BIOSZEN also includes statistical testing, multiple-testing correction, normalization, customizable visualizations, heatmaps, correlation analysis, and export of figures and results.

The graphical interface allows researchers to perform these analyses without requiring programming experience, while the underlying R package supports reproducible and script-based workflows.

BIOSZEN is freely available, open source, and can be installed directly in R or accessed through its online resources.
