What is Chkrootkit?

Chkrootkit is a Linux tool to locally check for signs of a rootkit. It contains:

  • chkrootkit: shell script that checks system binaries for rootkit modification.
  • ifpromisc.c: checks if the interface is in promiscuous mode.
