I've been using the hosted version for a couple weeks now because of Google Reader's death and for me it's a pretty-perfect replacement. Functionality-wise I'm able to use it exactly as I used Google Reader and the layout is basically the same. Exactly what I wanted in a RSS reader.

CommaFeed is open-sourced on GitHub and you can either use the free hosted version or host it yourself on your own server somewhere.

More people should check this out.

Is it worth mentioning that app requires as server OS Linux? It seems to me that no. I think mostly people come here to find out alternative for desktop app and they don't care about server OS. Therefore mentioning it can be misleading.

It can be installed on your own server. Not sure how easy it is on shared hosting, though.
