Compact Contacts

Compact Contacts is a native macOS app for managing contacts already stored in Apple's Contacts database. It replaces one-card-at-a-time browsing with a dense, configurable table for searching, comparing, sorting, filtering, and editing larger address books.

Features include configurable columns and row density, Favorites, Recents, native groups, reusable Saved Views, optional in-memory Notes search, and previewed Bulk Edit across names, organization fields, labeled phone numbers, email addresses, URLs, relationships, postal addresses, birthdays, groups, and notes. Text and regular-expression transformations show exact before-and-after values. CSV and vCard imports can be reviewed before commit, while filtered selections can be exported as CSV or vCard.

Potential duplicates are reviewed in Merge Studio, where users choose the surviving value for each field and the destination account. Eligible merges create an encrypted on-device recovery point. Compact Contacts does not create a new account or synchronization service; macOS and configured iCloud, Google, Exchange, or CardDAV accounts remain responsible for synchronization. There are no ads, third-party analytics, subscriptions, or developer-operated contact cloud. The app is a one-time Mac App Store purchase and includes a permission-free sample workspace with fictional, temporary contacts.
