What is Crash Team Racing?

Crash Team Racing is a kart racing game series, first developed as Crash Team Racing by Naughty Dog and published by Sony for the PlayStation in 1999.

The series focuses on Crash Bandicoot icon Crash Bandicoot and his friends' efforts to race against the egomaniacal Nitros Oxide to save the Earth from destruction, as players take on one of the initially eight available characters to play. During a race, offensive and speed boosting power-ups can be used to gain an advantage.

The series was met with critical acclaim, regarded as highly polished and entertaining kart racing which drew heavy inspiration from Mario Kart icon Mario Kart on its execution, technical achievements, and engaging gameplay, despite its unoriginality.
