The inspiration for this tool didn't come from a computer lab, but from the sawdust-covered floor of a workshop. I noticed a recurring problem: even the most skilled craftsmen were losing 15-20% of their expensive sheet materials simply because the 'mental math' of 2D nesting is incredibly complex.

I saw workshop owners in Rawalpindi and Islamabad manually sketching layouts on scraps of paper, trying to figure out how to fit a kitchen’s worth of cabinets onto a few sheets of MDF. I realized that if I could combine my background in web development with my passion for precision woodwork, I could build a solution that saves both money and trees.

I built the EdgeCraft Cutting Optimizer to be the 'brain' of the workshop—a tool that bridges the gap between a SketchUp design and the actual CNC machine. I’m excited to share it with the community and hear how it helps your projects!
