okish but global hotkey control even support of media keys is TOTAL RUBBISH + arrogant developer
Probably the best for Linux. You can customize this player for your needs starting with the empty screen and then put every button, every attribute of this software where it should be in your opinion. It's like Lego.
Customisation is the GOAT. Better than foobar2000. Works great on Linux Mint 22.
I found the initial layout.. uninspiring :) And i also found that customising the layout a little confusing at first, but then something 'clicked' and it was easy. I like DeadBeef because it loads fast, is very responsive, and plays all my varied music types well, including gapless. Not as pretty as some players, not as feature-rich as a media manager. Very good at what it does. Three stars may seem low vs my commentary, but i think people are far too generous with 5 star reviews. A 5 star reviews means it is without fault, perfect. Even though it is 3 stars to me, it's still my default player.

All my relationships with this software ended after they violated political neutrality. Software devs, even open-source must not mess their hands within such a dirt.
What do you mean?
The developers are from Ukraine and, of course, they will support Ukraine and talk about the crimes committed by muscovy (the so-called "russia"). What kind of "political neutrality" are you talking about when missiles launched by muscovy fall on your head?
So basically you're a subhuman russian getting offended by Ukrainians not liking their country getting bombed. Maybe you can drink some cheap vodka to dull the pain.
Taking sides over a fully orchestrated geopolitical event is a complete waste of time and energy. Why not thank the developer for the program itself, then pack your bags and leave? You can't force anyone to change their opinions.
