DevDome Safe Media Cleaner

DevDome Safe Media Cleaner is a free WordPress plugin licensed under GPLv2 or later. It scans for unused images, orphaned image files and missing media. Reference checks cover posts, pages, blocks, widgets, options, supported page builders and WooCommerce data.

You review the results before choosing files to clean. Each selected file gets another reference check before moving to a local Recycle Bin. Recent uploads and uncertain results are excluded from automatic selection. You can restore files or permanently delete them after checking your site. Custom or hard-coded references can still need manual review. This version does not group duplicate images.

Scans use resumable background batches. The review screen supports filename searches, status filters and sorting by size, dimensions or age. ZIP backups, scheduled scans, CSV exports and WP-CLI commands are included without limits.

Scanning, cleanup, backups and restoration run on your server without a DevDome account. Optional Monitoring requires a free DevDome account. It sends aggregate scan statistics for history and threshold alerts across connected sites. Media files, filenames, image URLs and visitor data are excluded from those monitoring reports.
