It is like nocodb + n8n + strapi in one integrated app.

Really great code. Faster than Supabase (only on free tier of Supabase) and includes simple admin UI.

The problem is that it provides application-level security rather than row-level security enforced inside the db itself, so it is inherently less secure than using something like Supabase or Hasura.

None of the alternatives listed (so far) seem to really be the same sort of thing. I've been trying to understand this software today. The only thing I have figured out at this point is that it is not like WordPress, Blogger, etc.

It can transform any SQL database into an API and a no-code application instantly, providing equal data and digital file asset management access to all team members. The process involves connecting Directus to your chosen SQL database and file storage adapter, enabling CRUD operations, user establishment, role allocation with adjustable permissions, detailed queries, webhooks and task automation, and more.

Directus uses Database Introspection & Abstraction to analyze your database structure and create an abstraction layer to handle all complex details. This method is compatible with any major SQL database, allowing you to connect or disconnect Directus to your database without affecting your existing data model, preventing vendor lock-in.

After introspection and abstraction, Directus creates REST and GraphQL API endpoints for data management with granular control. It also provides CLI tools for file management and a comprehensive JavaScript SDK.
