   Dolphin and Cemu target different use cases, so the “better” option really depends on what you want to emulate.

   Dolphin focuses on GameCube and Wii emulation and is more mature overall. It supports a wider range of platforms, has strong performance even on mid-range hardware, and offers features like netplay, controller flexibility, and long-term stability. It’s usually the go-to choice if compatibility and cross-platform support matter.

   Cemu, on the other hand, is built specifically for Wii U titles. While it supports fewer games overall, it can deliver very high performance and visual quality for supported titles, especially on Windows systems with capable GPUs. Its narrower scope works in its favor for Wii U–only users.

   In short:

   Dolphin is better for broad console coverage and long-term reliability.

   Cemu is better if your goal is Wii U emulation with higher visual tuning on supported games.

   Both serve their niches well rather than directly replacing each other.

   Dolphin and OpenEmu serve different audiences, so the comparison really comes down to platform and depth of control.

   Dolphin is a standalone emulator focused on GameCube and Wii with strong performance tuning, advanced graphics options, and broad controller support. It’s cross-platform and better suited for users who want fine-grained control over settings, accuracy, and performance across different systems.

   OpenEmu is more of a frontend and framework for multiple emulators on macOS only. It prioritizes ease of use, library management, and native Mac integration over deep per-emulator customization. For casual users on macOS who want a clean, unified interface, OpenEmu is very convenient.

   In short:

   Dolphin is better for power users who want maximum control and accuracy for GameCube/Wii emulation.

   OpenEmu is better for macOS users who value simplicity and managing multiple systems in one place.

   They’re less direct competitors and have more different approaches to emulation.
