ENVI-met

ENVI-met (also spelled ENVI_MET) is a holistic 3D non-hydrostatic model for simulation of surface-plant-air interactions not only limited to, but very often used to simulate urban environments and to asses the effects of green architecture visions.

The simulation results can be analyzed from a multitude of perspectives with the software tool LEONARDO, which comes with plenty of illustration facilities.

What is ENVI-met?

ENVI-met (also spelled ENVI_MET) is a holistic microclimate model, in which all the different elements of an urban or landscape setting interact which each other. The models’ calculation modules span over a wide range over different scientific disciplines from fluid dynamics over thermodynamics to plant physiology or soil science. It is the heart of the ENVI_MET model philosophy to integrate all these different approaches into a single model, so that all elements can interact with each other and reproduce the synergies we can observe in reality.

This holistic approach makes ENVI-met different to other models for environmental simulation. There are many models which calculate the air flow between buildings or the solar input on facades, but there are only very few, if any, that see the whole system in one picture and consider the multitude of processes that take place between the elements.
