What is Fader?

Fader is a menu bar volume mixer for macOS. Every app that plays sound gets its own volume fader and mute toggle, and volumes persist across launches. Output devices switch in one click, paired Bluetooth headphones connect straight from the popover, and a drag-to-reorder priority list drives automatic switching when devices come and go. A microphone tab switches the default input, sets input gain, and shows which apps are using the mic.

Per-app volume runs on Core Audio process taps, so there is no kernel extension and no virtual audio driver to install. An app left at 100% stays untouched for bit-perfect native playback. The binary is about 0.7 MB, signed and notarized, with zero telemetry and no network code at all. MIT-licensed. Requires macOS 15+ on Apple silicon.
