FileMorph information
What is FileMorph?
FileMorph is a free and open-source (AGPLv3) tool for converting and compressing files online — without ads, accounts, or handing your files to a closed black box.
It converts images (HEIC, JPG, PNG, WebP, BMP, TIFF, GIF), documents (DOCX, PDF, TXT, Markdown), spreadsheets (XLSX, CSV, JSON), audio (MP3, WAV, FLAC, OGG, M4A) and video (MP4, MOV, AVI, MKV, WebM), and can compress images to an exact target file size (e.g. 5 MB) using a binary search.
What sets it apart from typical cloud converters: • Open source (AGPLv3) and fully self-hostable via a one-command Docker deployment, with no feature gates — your files never have to leave your own infrastructure. • Privacy-first: no account required, EU-hosted, no trackers, EXIF metadata stripped on image conversion, and files deleted immediately after processing. • A free REST API for programmatic conversion.
FileMorph focuses on file conversion and compression rather than pixel-level photo editing (no filters, annotation or drawing) — a transparent, GDPR-friendly alternative to CloudConvert, Convertio and Smallpdf.
