As good as Everything. Fires up in milliseconds, just the way I like it.

I've been looking for a Linux equivalent to the excellent "Everything" tool in Windows. I tried AngrySearch, which was also very good, but I found I prefer FSearch. It's as close to Everything as Linux is going to get (NTFS hive functionality obviously won't be there).

For those who complain of the time it takes FSearch to update its' index, just add "fsearch -u" to your crontab file.

For those who aren't familiar with cron, run crontab -e, and add a line like the:

0 1 * * * /usr/bin/fsearch -u

and FSearch will re-index at 1am when you're (presumably) not using the computer.
