RPG Maker is only good at one thing and that thing is RPGs. It is still possible to make dungeon crawlers and strategy RPGs like Fire Emblem with this engine, but not platformers, racers (or kart games) and shooters among other genres. You are better off trying another engine that is vastly more accessible in that regard.
