Best tool I've found for making 2d games as a non-programmer. It has a clean, user friendly interface (a little boring, ms office-like, but easy to use).

The visual coding system has a lot of possibilities and is satisfactorily logically structured. I have only made a super simple platformer, but that's the furthest i've come in any engine without collaborating with a programmer, and it's clear that you can do a lot more (which i intend to).

The built-in image/animation editor is neat for quickly creating and adjusting your graphics. And you can assign properties to both sprites, scenes and globally. Also, there are thorough, well written, official text tutorials with plenty of screenshots, as well as some video tutorials.

There's a paid version, but that's only for those who need to build a lot of game builds (exporting the game) every day. As I've understood you use their servers when building, and therefore you have to pay if you need a lot of traffic.

Should you download GDevelop? Yes.

Another nice option for game engines. Though, not the only one. It has a lot of potential with whats already made of it. You are still given the option to tweak and use programming skills for code inside a game project. It's not the necessity in this case either, though. Check it out I'd say. I have and it isn't bad. The UI has options too for different color schemes, like solarized or dark or something else of that sort. If you ever feel limited by its ways, just remember that GDevelop is open source, completely. ^_^

The best engine I know, Focused on let working on your Imagination and dreams, not on making something working or plazable like the other engines whrere zou must alwazs tweak arround to make something simple.

While this is a neat little game development tool, I personally think this is a major step down from GDevelop 4. GD 4 was an OpenGL alternative to Construct 2. This meant that the games developed with it performed quite well. On the other hand, GD 5 is a nice replacement to Construct 3 game development tool. I would argue better in some ways.

Thank you for your comment! Have you tried GDevelop 5 lately? We've added a lot of performance-oriented updates, as well as new features such as 3D functionality, easy leaderboards, and more.
