FirmTape is a dealer-positioning terminal for S&P 500 (SPX) index options. Instead of refreshing a gamma-exposure (GEX) snapshot every few minutes, it rebuilds the dealer's book from every print in the 0DTE options tape and redraws the chart once a second while the market trades. Every finished session since daily SPX expiries began (April 2022; 1,000+ sessions) is free to open, replay and download with no account; only the live stream is sold.
What the terminal shows
- Zero-gamma flip and regime: where dealer hedging stops damping price moves and starts amplifying them, recomputed every second with its whole intraday path drawn.
- Three dealer books side by side: the call/put convention on volume, the same convention on open interest, and a third book signed from the actual trade tape against the NBBO. The panel says when the books disagree instead of printing one answer.
- Strike ladder: gamma, DEX (delta exposure) and VEX (vega exposure) per strike, from today's traded flow or the morning open-interest structure; 0DTE, next expiry or all expiries.
- Vanna, charm and 25-delta skew overlays; every strike carries its own implied vol into its own gamma.
- Readouts: call and put walls, expected-hold band, expected move, realised vs implied vol, ATM IV, dealer inventory, vega, charm, gamma percentile, max GEX change by strike.
- Delta-gamma flow per candle, with its archive-wide statistics printed in the tooltip.
- Playback: replay any session as it traded, second by second at 1x or the whole day in three minutes; step by candle or jump to any minute.
- Honest by design: no buy/sell arrows; the product prints its own measured statistics, including the ones that show no edge.
LAB: backtest an idea in plain words
Describe a setup the way you would say it ("fade a +3 sigma stretch off VWAP on top-decile volume"). LAB compiles it into a rule with exact thresholds, backtests it across 1,000+ sessions against an honest baseline with an out-of-sample split, sweeps every threshold (quant optimize) showing every variant, and draws surviving rules on the live chart with sound or push alerts. Developing an idea is free; each backtest or optimize job costs one credit. A free Idea Feed supplies fresh, untested ideas to start from.
AI access (MCP)
An MCP server at mcp.firmtape.com lets Claude, Cursor and any MCP client read the flip, walls, hold band and net-gamma percentile of any finished session for free and, once connected to an account, compile and backtest ideas in LAB from the chat. A Lab HTTP API serves scripts.
Session archive
Every trading day has a public summary page and a downloadable minute-grid snapshot; the same data feeds the terminal, LAB and MCP.
Pricing
Archive, session pages, MCP read tools and LAB idea development: free, no sign-up. Live stream: $49/month or $490/year, with 5 LAB credits included monthly. LAB credit packs from $9; LAB-only plan $29/month.
