In the combination of any encryption tool for protecting your data on their space - one of the best cloud storage ever:
Cons:
Good price (100 GB for I think 2 bucks monthly), but one should never forget that the data is visible to Google, all their sub companies, authorities, etc.
We know that Google removed the "Don't be evil" slogan years ago... and we can assume what Google is doing with our private data.
I have the $20/month AI subscription and it's amazing how much storage that gets you in Google Drive. And Gemini in Drive is genuinely useful at:
Google Drive is my top pick for cloud storage. The real-time collaboration with Docs and Sheets is a lifesaver for my workflow. Syncing is flawless across all my devices. It’s hard to find a better balance of reliability and ease of use. Still the industry leader!
Saying the same thing as everyone else: you have zero privacy when storing your files to your Google Drive. 15 gigabytes free, sure. But after hearing about the deprecation of G Suite for non-Gmail users (meaning no more free Google Workspace for users that don't use Gmail) in 2022, I of course feared for when this same change would make its way to free Gmail users as well. So I backed away from it and the Google Workspace together (mostly) just to avoid association... and for fear that this exact change was gonna come true. It still isn't, but that doesn't mean it's never gonna be. I still use Google Drive from time to time, just not so much since July 1, 2022. I'm slowing getting closer to quitting for more private and secure providers though (and with encryption at rest).
Ditched Microsoft office a while ago, this is much better to collaborate with clients
Absolutely ZERO data privacy. Per their terms of service, Google claims usage rights to literally anything you upload on Drive for whatever purposes they want. You have no control over your data here.
