What is Homeye?

Homeye turns an old Android phone into a home camera and your everyday phone into the viewer. The two phones pair on the local network (QR code or a 6-digit code) and stream directly to each other over WebRTC with DTLS-SRTP. There is no account to create, no cloud in the path, no ads and no analytics SDK.

Features: live video and audio, push-to-talk, motion detection with a thumbnail alert, zoom, and four quality levels that follow the camera phone's temperature and battery — and tell you why they changed. A "stability check" walks you through the battery-optimisation switches that vendor ROMs use to kill background apps. When the picture stops, the viewer says so and why, instead of showing a silently stale frame.

Limitations, stated up front: LAN-only in the current version, so no remote viewing on mobile data. No cloud recording. Motion alerts reach you only while you are watching; otherwise they are listed when you reconnect. Android only, and it needs two phones.
