Joyful Muslims

Joyful Muslims is an audiobook app for the classical Islamic canon in English: all 40 books of al-Ghazali's Ihya 'Ulum al-Din, Ibn Kathir's Stories of the Prophets and al-Bidaya wal-Nihaya, Ibn al-Qayyim's Madarij al-Salikin and al-Fawa'id, al-Nawawi's Forty Hadiths, Sahih al-Bukhari with commentary from Fath al-Bari, and more — 77 books, translated in-house from the original Arabic. Narration is synthesized speech, disclosed in the app; the Quran is never synthesized.

Every book carries the Living Manuscript, a word-synced bilingual transcript that follows the audio in Arabic and English side by side. Several titles are also available in Arabic, Turkish, Indonesian and Urdu editions.

The app opens with a free account, no card required: five hours of listening a month, prayer times and the qiblah, and the complete Quran in the recitation of Shaykh Mahmud Khalil al-Husary — free and not counted against the monthly allowance. One membership, Joyful+, removes the listening cap and adds prayer reminders, the Apple Watch app and home-screen widgets. CarPlay, offline listening and a daily study practice are supported.
