What is Launchie?

Launchie is an app launcher for macOS that recreates Launchpad, which Apple removed in macOS 26 Tahoe and did not bring back in macOS 27 Golden Gate. It shows all installed apps in a full-screen or windowed grid that users arrange themselves, with folders created by dropping one app onto another. Apple's replacement, the Apps view in Spotlight, sorts apps automatically and offers neither.

Beyond the original Launchpad, Launchie adds Spaces, separate pages of apps for different contexts such as work or gaming, switched with a swipe. Quick Access keeps recent, most used and newest apps at the top. It opens with a custom keyboard shortcut, instant search, and keyboard navigation, and closes with Esc or a click outside. Layouts can be backed up and restored.

The free version includes the full grid, unlimited folders, Spaces and search. Launchie Pro, a one-time purchase, adds the blurred desktop wallpaper behind the grid like the original Launchpad, hot corners, hidden apps, favourites, per-display window profiles and, in the direct download, trackpad gestures that open Launchie instead of the Apps view.
