    Can become something nice, but not yet. The idea is great, to have AI actually help instead of doing the writing.

    A few things are not there yet. In the interface, things stop working suddenly, like dropdowns. Where things are saved is not obvious, and it all feels a bit untested.

    The features are there, and with a bit of time this might become a great product. The other thing is, if you don't speak french, support is only via email. There is a discord, but you are greeted with a french wall...

All in all really great concept to use AI to explore your handwritten story. But the buggy interface and french focused community is a showstopper, at least for me and at the current moment.

What is Le Grimoire?

Le Grimoire is a local-first writing app for novelists. You write, and the AI reads what you wrote to fill in your character sheets, locations, timeline and relationship graph.

It never generates prose. It organises your work, it doesn't replace you.

Import without pain

Imports Scrivener projects (.scrivx) and Word documents (.docx), keeping your chapter structure intact. A 300-page manuscript comes over as-is. No retyping.

Scene analysis

After you write a scene, the AI extracts the characters, locations, relationships and events it contains, and offers to update your world. Nothing is created without your approval.

Your universe, visible

  • 3D constellation of characters and their relationships
  • Interactive timeline in 2D and 3D
  • Custom fictional calendars (your own months, seasons, festivals)
  • Corkboard where each scene carries a tarot arcana matching its narrative function

Writing environment

  • Immersive mode: no interface, background image and ambient sounds
  • Style palette: highlights adverbs, repetitions, passive voice, weak verbs and long sentences. You choose what to display.
  • 28 visual themes, from Film Noir to Cyberpunk to Regency
