What is Leanpub?

Leanpub is a platform for authors to write, publish, and sell both ongoing and finished ebooks. Authors can publish their work during the writing process, allowing for reader feedback and content refinement. This Lean Publishing method uses simple tools to develop and adjust the content until the final book is created. Leanpub provides a basic interface for authors, supporting plain text input and Markdown language for easy ebook creation.

Authors can upload existing books or preferred writing workflows in PDF or EPUB formats. Leanpub offers an 80% royalty rate on published works and also supports online course publishing with the same approach and workflow as ebooks.

Leanpub offers a simple text editor for authors who prefer to write in Markdown. Authors can also write on their computer and sync their work with GitHub or Dropbox. Once the writing is complete, authors can publish their ebook on Leanpub. Leanpub courses can also be created in Markdown, with learners able to access the material and complete quizzes and exercises on the website.
