What is LibreSolvE?

LibreSolvE is a Free, Libre and Open Source Software (FLOSS) equation solver inspired by Engineering Equation Solver (EES). It reads plain-text .lse files and solves systems of non-linear algebraic equations, plus ordinary differential equations via an Integral function, from the command line on Windows, macOS and Linux.

It is built in C# on .NET with an ANTLR-based parser for EES-style syntax, and uses MathNet.Numerics for numerical solving. Distribution is a single self-contained executable per platform — no runtime installation required.

The project deliberately targets syntax compatibility with EES so that the same input file can be read by both tools. Current status is early alpha: a subset of the EES language is supported, and thermophysical property functions and unit checking are not yet implemented.

LibreSolvE is an independent project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by F-Chart Software.
